 Showtime's enduring drama series “Billions” is about to return with a highly anticipated seventh season, and the wait isn't long. The biggest news story, though, is the revival of Damian Lewis's character Bobby Axelrod from his Swiss exile. While Corey Stoll's portrayal of rival Mike Prince deftly filled the antagonistic void during Axelrod's absence, the return of the beloved hedge fund mogul to reclaim his throne certainly promises to be a fan treat. This development is also tantamount to doubling the challenges for Paul Giamatti's Chuck Rhoades, as he now faces two formidable adversaries. Even before the debut of the sixth season, “Billions” had already secured a renewal for its seventh and final season, scheduled to arrive this August as confirmed in February 2022.

Conceived by Brian Koppelman, David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin, “Billions” made its debut in January 2016 and has since maintained its presence for six seasons on Showtime, making it the network's longest-running drama series. The initial seasons were inspired by real-world financial misconduct cases related to the prosecution of hedge fund manager Steven A. Cohen of S.A.C. US Attorney Preet Bharara's Capital Advisors, as well as Salomon Brothers' 1991 manipulation of US Treasury bonds.
