Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special 2026 Tv Series Review Trailer

Image
2026 is a monumental year for *Zillennials* everywhere—well, at least if you’re a Disney fan. If you haven’t realized it yet, it’s not just the anniversary of *Hannah Montana*, but also the anniversary of *High School Musical*! And all in the same year? Twenty years later, the nostalgia hits you like a brick the instant Miley Cyrus steps onto the scene with her blonde bangs and that shiny gold belt. Although Miley herself looks mature and elegant now, her Tennessee personality shines through instantly the moment she sets foot on the set—the very home of the Stewarts! But, almost immediately, you feel that something is missing.  That’s because most of the show’s main cast doesn’t appear in this anniversary special. Even so, I can’t complain, considering that Miley is the sole reason we had the opportunity to enjoy this special at all. Twenty years ago, when I was just a little girl myself, I had a poster of the pop star with the double life hanging on my pink and purple walls (quite...

Pretty Lethal 2026 Movie Review Trailer

Image
In a world where the ballet community has felt deeply offended by an Oscar-nominated actor—and where, instead of seeing artists celebrating other artists, we are bombarded with meme after meme—it seems we have yet to find any respite from the damage already inflicted. Somehow, days after this debacle, I find myself with the opportunity to witness the collision of these two worlds—cinema and ballet—in a thriller starring ballet dancers; a story about five dazzling young women who get entangled in a mess when they travel to Budapest to perform in the most prestigious ballet showcase.  From what I’ve heard, *Pretty Lethal* is the kind of movie I would devour in a matter of seconds; it is exactly the sort of film I would love to watch with my friends. However—*sigh*—this movie has turned out to be the most disappointing thing I’ve seen so far this year. Perhaps this is due to the high expectations I had built up, especially upon seeing these young women in the cast—performers I h...

Fantasy Life 2026 Movie Review Trailer

Image
Actor-turned-director Matthew Shear makes a promising feature debut with a vivid portrait of an unemployed actress and her nanny, both of whom feel as though they are drowning. It is no exaggeration to say that Amanda Peet delivers the performance of a lifetime in *Fantasy Life*. There should likely be no confusion between the actress and the character she brings to life—Dianne: a former screen star, now in her fifties, who stopped landing roles a decade ago when the scripts she was offered simply didn't measure up. Yet, there is a wisdom and weariness about her that suggest Peet has seen a great deal of the world; it is even somewhat unsettling to realize that a similar span of time has passed since she herself last appeared on the big screen.  Director: Matthew Shear Writer: Matthew Shear Stars: Amanda Peet, Matthew Shear, Bob Balaban Her luminous return in this comedic drama—directed by Matthew Shear and centering on two people at a crossroads in life—reminds us just how much he...

Yes 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

Horrified by the country of his birth and overwhelmed by the weight of its sins, Nadav Lapid has crafted the most wrathful filmography in modern cinema, battling his own Israeliness as if it were an incurable virus infecting his work. The explosive *Synonyms* (2019) was a semi-autobiographical identity crisis about a man who flees to Paris, convinced he was born in the Middle East by mistake; for its part, *Ahed’s Knee* (2021) constituted an equally personal cry into the wind—this time rooted in the frustrated impotence of artistic resistance in the face of an exultantly genocidal ethno-state. While Lapid’s earlier features—*Policeman* and *The Kindergarten Teacher*—sought a glimmer of hope, these two films convulse with rage, though both are tinged by a sense of resignation that they fight tooth and nail to shake off. Consequently, I naturally assumed that his next feature—written in Europe prior to the events of October 7, 2023, and subsequently reworked with fury around them, o...

Love Story 2026 Tv Series Review Trailer

Image
This week’s episode of FX’s biographical romantic drama series, *Love Story*, is undoubtedly a mere filler episode preceding next week’s devastating finale—the very conclusion for which the series has been preparing us. While the previous episode ended with John’s decision to get involved in politics—at least to some extent—a move that could have negatively impacted his marriage to Carolyn, many other things go awry for the couple in the ensuing months.  Raising, above all, questions regarding the very necessity of producing such an extensive series in the first place, the eighth episode literally depicts John and Carolyn arguing at various moments and over various issues—all without ever stepping outside the confines of their apartment. Creator: Connor Hines Stars: Sarah Pidgeon, Paul Anthony Kelly, Grace Gummer The eighth episode of *Love Story* opens with a Carolyn Bessette still unable to overcome her depression; sitting in total solitude in the apartment she shares with ...

The Conners 2026 Tv Series Season 7 Review Trailer Poster

Image
For Jackie (Laurie Metcalf), Dan (John Goodman), Harris (Emma Kenney), Darlene (Sara Gilbert), Becky (Lecy Goranson), and company, the seventh season of *The Conners* proves to be a bittersweet experience, with the family embarking on one final journey before the curtain falls—seemingly forever. However, despite the emotional nuances of this family farewell, it appears that viewers aren't quite as moved. On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the seventh season of *The Conners* has seen the family’s fortunes slide, resulting in a lackluster audience score of just 47%. This overall score for a series that was once deeply beloved pales in comparison to its first three seasons, each of which garnered solid ratings from critics. The 93% earned by the first season—certified as "Fresh"—along with the 86% of the second and the perfect 100% of the third, paint a very different picture than the reception received by the show's subsequent seasons. Nevertheless, the millions ...

BTS the Comeback Live: Arirang 2026 Tv Series Review Trailer

Image
When you have followed an artist for over a decade, and they return as a group after a four-year hiatus, emotions run high—yes—but, more than anything, the joy is unparalleled. Watching *K-POP Demon Hunters*, there is a moment when the screen turns red because (spoiler alert) an evil boy band manages to take over the entire world through the simple act of performing a song. BTS aren't evil; they are, simply, seven aliens—right? The live broadcast of their comeback begins in a measured and steady manner. RM—or Namjoon—greets Seoul, the city that witnessed the group's birth and which, at that moment, is bathed in purple, as every single one of its inhabitants is a fan.  Filling Gwanghwamun Square—situated directly in front of Seoul’s historic Gyeongbokgung Palace—stands ARMY, BTS’s loyal fanbase, ready to face any adversity—come rain or shine—for their seven boys. Four years ago, in 2022, when BTS announced they would be returning—clarifying that their departure would be only for...

Forbidden Fruits 2026 Movie Review Trailer

Image
Lola Tung, Lili Reinhart, Victoria Pedretti, and Alexandra Shipp star in this female-centric—and somewhat scatological—thriller. A chaotic (yet formative) part of female adolescence involves the reckless appropriation of various trends, traditions, and cultural elements, in a haphazard attempt to construct a personal identity. For some girls, this means swapping one friend group for another, or going from being the band’s "nerd" to becoming a cheerleader. For others, it means dabbling in witchcraft. Director: Meredith Alloway Writers: Lily Houghton, Meredith Alloway Stars: Lili Reinhart, Jordan Duarte, Victoria Pedretti Thirty years ago, *The Craft* became an icon for an entire generation of 90s girls who dreamed of having power, beauty, and boys. A coven of four teenagers was capable of casting spells and curses, and the only threat to their power was themselves. Now comes *Forbidden Fruits*, a twisted teen comedy that channels the spirit of *The Craft*, but with a *girly-p...

Unicorn Academy: Secrets Revealed 2026 Tv Series Review Trailer

Image
Sophia and her friends must find the Fairy Tiara and defeat Ravenzella before she takes over their magical island. Sophia is back alongside her fellow riders—also known as the Sapphires—as they continue training and strengthening the bond with their unicorns. This time, the stakes are incredibly high. With the return of the powerful villainess Ravenzella, the Queen of Grimoria, the threat of her destroying the island's magic looms larger than ever. To stop her once and for all, the riders must unravel the secret of an ancient artifact known as the Fairy Tiara—a relic that once belonged to the very first unicorn rider. Stars: Monica Rodriguez Knox, Sara Garcia, Kolton Stewart But there is a problem: the Tiara has shattered into six distinct pieces, transformed into magical gems that are now scattered across different corners of the island. Sophia and her unicorn, Wildstar, manage to locate one of the lost stars and strive to discover the whereabouts of the remaining ones. However, n...

They Will Kill You 2026 Movie Review Trailer

Image
Kirill Sokolov’s Tarantino-inspired foray makes genre promises it fails to keep. In Kirill Sokolov’s *They Will Kill You*, a sword-wielding Zazie Beetz infiltrates a satanic cult ensconced in a luxury hotel, aiming to rescue one of the waitresses before she is used as a human sacrifice. All the pieces are in place for a wild and brutally entertaining midnight-movie action flick—something the film undoubtedly is the moment the bloodshed begins. However, twists to its premise soon end up souring it conceptually, resulting in rapidly diminishing returns, with derivative formal flourishes that largely call to mind other, better films. By the time the final credits roll, the experience proves utterly exhausting. A dramatic, rain-soaked prologue shows a battered Asia Reaves (Beetz) fleeing her abusive father, only to leave her teenage sister behind. A decade later, we find our heroine posing as a newly hired waitress—still amidst a downpour, linking the two scenes before we even know ex...

Mirrors No. 3 2026 Movie Review Trailer Poster

Image
*Mirrors No. 3* isn't a terrible film; however, it proved unnecessarily confusing and offered a highly unsatisfying ending. Upon leaving the theater, everyone else attending this film festival screening seemed displeased with the movie, making comments ranging from "the ending was bad" to "I couldn't understand some parts." I must say, I agree. A young woman goes on a hiking trip with her boyfriend and his friends. For no reason that is ever explained, she acts moody and uninterested, and—once they have reached their hiking destination—insists on wanting to go back home. However, on the return journey, her boyfriend suffers a fatal accident, while Laura is left barely injured after being thrown from the vehicle.  Director: Christian Petzold Writer: Christian Petzold Stars: Paula Beer, Philip Froissant, Matthias Brandt For some strange reason—which also goes entirely unexplained—after the police and paramedics arrive, she insists on staying with the woman wh...

Marc by Sofia 2025 Movie Review Trailer

Image
In her documentary debut, Coppola chronicles the work of her longtime friend and collaborator, eschewing hagiography in favor of something more elusive. It is a classic premise: a filmmaker follows a creative genius leading up to the unveiling of a major new work, documenting the preparations and the fears—the pains and the pleasures—with an elegant, self-evident conclusion. The creator creates, we observe, and the triumph is realized. That framework works for all manner of stories, but at its best, it transcends such prescriptive tendencies. Director: Sofia Coppola Stars: Sofia Coppola, Marc Jacobs, Spike Jonze It is gratifying to see the finished painting, the completed house, or the finished book; yet, it is the process itself that makes these stories truly captivating. This appears to be the driving force behind Sofia Coppola’s first documentary, *Marc by Sofia*. The film ostensibly follows fashion designer and icon Marc Jacobs as he prepares for his Spring 2024 show—encompass...

The Bad Guys 2 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

Image
The biggest problem with "high-concept" films—those built around a particularly flashy premise—like *Bad Guys*, is that they rely entirely on their initial setup. And, much like in *Despicable Me*, the moment the "bad guys" stop being bad, the title—and the entire concept—begins to crumble. The script for this film stalls right from the start, attempting to turn the good guys back into bad guys without ever truly letting them be bad, since they are technically supposed to be good... even though, in a way, they already were from the very beginning. Confused? Yes, exactly. Now, imagine trying to write something like that. The first installment of *Bad Guys* didn't exactly leave anyone awestruck, but it managed to get by thanks to its novelty factor. The only real way to make a sequel work is for the characters to be memorable or endearing enough to endure beyond the simple hook of the original film.  Directors: Pierre Perifel, JP Sans Writers: Yoni Brenner, Etan ...

The Rise of the Red Hot Chili Peppers: Our Brother, Hillel 2026 Movie Review Trailer

Image
This documentary takes us on a journey through the history of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and one of their members: Hillel Slovak. If you have ever been a fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, this is one of the most moving documentaries you will ever see. However—as the title suggests—the film focuses less on the band itself and more on its member Hillel Slovak, who served as the Red Hot Chili Peppers' original and lead guitarist. The film traces the band's early years through archival footage and personal journals. We witness the close bond shared by Slovak, Kiedis, and Flea, and observe how they rose to become one of the biggest and most successful bands of all time. And—though it may be somewhat difficult to watch—the film depicts the death of Hillel Slovak.  Director: Ben Feldman Stars: Alain Johannes, James Slovak, Gary Allen For many of us, it may feel like reopening a wound that still aches deeply. That is the point where things become truly heartbreaking. Therefore, you shou...

Steel Ball Run: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 2026 Tv Series Review Trailer

Image
The *gayest* anime ever created has saddled up once again, returning with such overflowing authority—atop its steed, clad in haute couture, flashing a gold-toothed grin, and serving up the most gorgeous visuals ever committed to screen—that even the notion of a "return to form" feels astonishingly inadequate. Four years after its predecessor, *Stone Ocean*, closed the long and cyclical book on the original Joestar lineage on Netflix, Part 7 of the acclaimed *JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure*—titled *Steel Ball Run*—bursts forth as a new gospel for its legions of fervent emissaries; a soft reboot of the franchise that carries the DNA of its legendary legacy in its very bones, along with the confidence born of nearly twenty years spent being hailed as one of the greatest manga ever written. The initial hysteria surrounding its premiere—including the immediate convulsions across the internet when, just hours after its release, it dethroned *Frieren* from its comfortable, cushy perch on...
