All's Fair 2025 Tv Series Review Trailer

This review contains plot details from the first three episodes of “All’s Fair,” which are now available on Hulu. Creators: Jon Robin Baitz, Joe Baken, Ryan Murphy Stars: Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash The fact that a legal drama supposedly about female empowerment begins with a pilot episode written and directed by men probably tells you everything you need to know about “All’s Fair.” In fact, of the three episodes currently available on Hulu to commemorate the series premiere, only one features a significant creative credit from a woman, and it’s shared between executive producer Jamie Pachino and co-creator Ryan Murphy, who collaborated on the script for Episode 2.  But this is a review, so I’m obligated to elaborate: “All’s Fair” is a clumsy, condescending take on superficial, triumphalist feminism, undercooked even by the standards of the overworked Murphy, who co-created the series with Joe Baken and Jon Robin Baitz. Admittedly, the tone is intentionally campy, and i...

Medieval 2022 Movie Review Trailer Cast Crew

The first full trailer for Medieval, a historical epic starring Ben Foster as Czech hero Jan Žižka, has been released following the release of a trailer in May. Titled Jan Žižka for the Czech market, the film will hit theaters in Prague on September 8 along with a limited release in other markets, including the United States.

With an estimated budget of 500 million crowns, Medieval is billed as the most expensive Czech film ever made. The film was shot four years ago, during the summer of 2018, before a long post-production process that included postponements due to the pandemic.

Director: Petr Jákl
Writers: Petr Jákl, Petr Jakl Sr., Marek Dobes
Stars: Ben Foster, Sophie Lowe, Michael Caine

Alongside Foster as legendary 14th-century general Jan Žižka, Medieval also stars Michael Caine, Til Schweiger, Sophie Lowe, Roland Møller, Matthew Goode and William Moseley among its impressive international cast. Local talent featured in the film includes Karel Roden as King Wenceslaus IV.

Medieval takes place during a time of chaos in the Holy Roman Empire, when Kings Wenceslaus IV of Bohemia (Roden) and Sigismund of Hungary (Goode) vie for the throne. Žižka, a young mercenary during the events of the film, is hired by Lord Boresh (Caine) to kidnap Lady Katherine (Lowe), the fiancée of Lord Rosenberg (Til Schweiger), in order to prevent his and Sigismund's promotion.

Jan Žižka is one of the most prominent figures in Czech history: the imposing equestrian statue of him dominates Prague from the top of Vítkov Hill (and he recently appeared in The Gray Man, replacing Baku). The nearby Prague neighborhood of Žižkov is named after him.

Most famous as the Hussite military leader during the Hussite Wars, Žižka legendaryly defended Prague from some ten thousand invading Crusaders with a force of 80 soldiers on top of Vítkov Hill. Despite being completely blind at the end of his military career, Žižka is said to have never lost a battle leading Hussite forces against the invaders during three separate crusades.

Medieval, on the other hand, takes place before Žižka's military career. Despite the presence of real-life historical figures (apart from the characters played by Caine and Lowe), the film's narrative appears to be entirely fictional and only "inspired by true events".

Those interested in something closer to the real story of Žižka should check out the 1950s Hussite revolutionary trilogy by Otakar Vávra, Jan Hus, Jan Žižka, and Against All, each starring Zdeněk Štěpánek as Žižka. At the time of production, those films were considered to be the most expensive Czech films ever made.
