Netflix constantly raises the bar for YA novels turned into series with a supernatural and mystical twist. As we anxiously await the release of Joe Barton's version of author Sally Green's novel The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself, we've been sustained by Mike Flanagan's on-screen narration of Christopher Pike's The Midnight Club. And today, Netflix released the first look at its upcoming series, Lockwood & Co., which will be based on Jonathan Stroud's YA series.
The eight-episode series takes place in London and centers on a trio of young ghost hunters who have created the titular new company. Leading the pack is Lucy Carlyle (Ruby Stokes, Bridgerton), a girl with extraordinary psychic abilities who works alongside the company's Anthony Lockwood (Cameron Chapman) and George Cubbins (Ali Hadji-Heshmati). Together, the teens face every vengeful spirit the afterlife can throw at them. While there are other adult-led supernatural investigation companies out there, Lockwood & Co. can prove time and time again that they're the best for the job. Solving a mystery that promises to reveal secrets long thought lost, the triad will stop at nothing until the job is done.

Audiences Lucy and Anthony as they face a ghost who shoots to destroy them. After Lucy is thrown over a railing, she clings to a painting frame for her life. Using his trusty sword, Anthony confronts the specter and is able to bring it down, saving Lucy in the process. As he takes her back to safety, we can already see that a romance is blossoming between two of the members of Lockwood & Co.
Stokes stars as Lucy Carlyle, a psychically talented newcomer who, along with Chapman's Anthony Lockwood and Hadji-Heshmati as George Karim, runs a psychic detection agency.
Set in London, where the most talented teenage ghost hunters venture into dangerous combat with deadly spirits every night, amidst the many adult-run corporate agencies, one stands alone: Regardless of any commercial imperatives or adult supervision: a small startup, run by a trio of renegades destined to unravel a mystery that will change the course of history: Lockwood & Co.
Jeremiah plays Inspector Barnes, Treadaway plays The Golden Blade, and Christie plays Penelope Fittes. They are also joined by Jack Bandeira who plays Quill Kipps, Ben Crompton as Julius Winkman, Hayley Konadu as Flo Bones, Rhianna Dorris as Kat Godwin and Paddy Holland as Bobby Vernon.
Cornish, who also co-wrote The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn and Ant-Man, is an executive producer alongside Nira Park and Rachael Prior.
