Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight is DreamWork Television's Netflix Original series based on the hit children's animated franchise of the same name. Now, months later, we can confirm that Netflix will be releasing a Season 2 in January 2023.


Developed for television by Mitch Watson and Peter Hastings, Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight sees Po teaming up with an English knight named the Wandering Blade to find a collection of four power weapons.

Netflix has released the official trailer for the upcoming second season of the animated martial arts comedy Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, which features the voice of Jack Black as he returns to reprise his role as the beloved titular Dragon Warrior. The new episodes will begin airing on January 12, 2023.


The trailer for Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 2 highlights Po's next epic adventure as he leaves China in an attempt to stop the evil weasels from achieving his plans. Along with Mr. Ping, Wandering Blade and Rukhmini, his mission will take him to different parts of the world, from India to Central America and England.


Season 2 will introduce new guest stars, including Harvey Guillén as a frog named Pelpel, Richard Ayoade as a mole rat named Kyle, Shohreh Aghdashloo as the pirate queen Forouzan, and Melissa Villaseñor as the excitable scientist Akna.


The series re-bought Jack Black to reprise the role of Po, and featured the voices of Rita Ora, Nolan North, Della Saba, Chris Geere, Amy Hill, and James Hong.


If you think it was a quick revamp for an animated project, you'd be right and wrong at the same time. While the show is returning for a season 2, it will likely do so as part of an initial pre-order in which Netflix ordered an initial number of episodes.


Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight is executive produced by Peter Hastings and Shaunt Nigoghossian, along with Chris Amick and Ben Mekler. Joining Black are franchise veteran James Hong as Mr. Ping, Rita Ora as Wandering Blade, Chris Geere as Klaus Dumont, Della Saba as Veruca Dumont, Rahnuma Panthaky as Rukhmini, and Ed Weeks as Colin.


“The search for the villainous weasels Klaus and Veruca and the powerful weapons of Tianshiang sees Po venturing outside of China for the first time with a motley crew of warriors, including the ferocious Wandering Blade, the slippery Rukhmini, and the loyal Mr. Ping.” says the text. synopsis. “From a museum heist in India to a volcanic eruption in Central America, the heroes face danger at every turn on their journey to unravel the secrets surrounding Blade's brother and his connection to magical weapons.


And finally, as the warrior team begins a long journey to England, Po tells a story explaining Chinese New Year customs and traditions to lift the crew's spirits in a Lunar New Year special.


The Kung Fu Panda franchise began in 2008, and the first film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Feature. It featured the voices of Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, and Seth Rogen. Due to its success, two more sequels followed in 2011 and 2016. Currently, the trilogy has a combined gross of more than $1.8 billion at the worldwide box office.


Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 2 premieres on Netflix on January 12, 2023.
