“Vikings: Valhalla” returns with its second season on January 12, but Variety has the exclusive first look at the “Vikings” prequel season 2 trailer to help fans out for another month.
Based on the History Channel series "Vikings" created by Michael Hirst, "Vikings: Valhalla" is set over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century and chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived: the legendary explorer. Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson) and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).

Consisting of eight 49-minute episodes, the second season finds our heroes shortly after the tragic fall of Kattegat; an event that has shattered their dreams and altered their destinies, according to the official Netflix description. Suddenly found on the run in Scandinavia, they are forced to test their ambitions and courage in worlds beyond the Kattegat fjords.
Season 2 of “Vikings: Valhalla” stars Hayat Kamille, Sam Corlett, Lujza Richter, Leo Suter, David Oakes, Frida Gustavsson, Laura Berlin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and Bradley Freegard.
Jeb Stuart is the series showrunner and writes alongside Vanessa Alexander, Declan Croghan, Jeb Stuart, Eoin McNamee and Niall Queenan. Stuart's fellow executive producers include Morgan O'Sullivan, Michael Hirst, Sheila Hockin, Steve Stark, James Flynn, John Weber, Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer and Paul Buccier. Season 2 directors include Monika Mitchell, Ciaran Donnelly, Emer Conroy and Jan Matthys.
Within 24 hours of its early 2022 premiere, the first season of Vikings: Valhalla had the most viewers on Netflix. The series was officially renewed for a second and third season in March 2022 after receiving a 24-episode order in November 2019. On November 21, Netflix revealed that the highly anticipated Season 2 of Vikings: Valhalla will premiere on January 12. from 2023. Like the first season, season 2 will be available to stream only on Netflix. All eight episodes of the first season debuted on the platform on February 25, 2022, and have reportedly garnered more than 80 million hours of viewing in their first two days on the site.
