The Locksmith 2023 Movie Review Trailer Cast Crew

 In early 2022, we announced that production had wrapped on the thriller The Locksmith, directed by Ryan Phillippe. Now is the time to follow up on that, as Screen Media Films shared with Collider the first trailer for the upcoming movie. Now, we can reveal the trailer and also the release date of the film: it will be released simultaneously in theaters and On Demand in just a couple of weeks, on February 3rd. The story centers on an ex-convict who decides to change his life. him after being released from prison, but somehow ends up back in the criminal underworld.


In the trailer, we see Miller do what he can to put his life of crime behind him. As the title suggests, he is a master lock pick who can get through several of them in a few minutes. His abilities land him in trouble during a robbery going south, and after he's released from prison, there's a good chance it will happen again. He tries to reconnect with his estranged daughter and his ex-girlfriend, but an old friend soon reappears asking for his help.

As he goes out, he runs into his old friend Frank (Ving Rhames), who offers him a job at his locksmith business, gives him a place to stay, and says he'll help him get back on his feet. Miller is looking forward to seeing his ex-wife Beth and his daughter Lindsay (Kate Bosworth and Madeline Guilbot), who is now around ten years old. They all seem to get along and in what appears to be a sweet scene in a park, his daughter asks him what he's good at and hints that her mom said he's the best at picking locks.

The Locksmith is directed by Nicolas Harvard, who is making his film debut. Though Harvard is only now directing a project, he has been first and second assistant directors for two decades in Hollywood, working on highly praised films like Hell or High Water, Wind River, and the Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker. Harvard has also worked on acclaimed series like Yellowstone and Sorry For Your Loss.


The Locksmith screenplay is co-written by Chris LaMont (Hard Kill) and Joe Russo (The Au Pair Nightmare). The duo wrote the screenplay based on an original story by John Glosser, Ben Kabialis and Blair Kroeber, who are making their feature film debut; however, they have worked on the production team of various projects such as RuPaul's Drag Race and Captain America: Civil War.

The Locksmith opens in theaters and On Demand on February 3.
