David Harbor has been the undead in "Stranger Things," Santa in "Violent Night" and now, a friendly ghost for the upcoming Netflix comedy "We Have a Ghost."
Written and directed by Christopher Landon ("Freaky," "Happy Death Day"), the film stars Harbor as Ernest, a supernatural entity who is determined to find his killer, with the help of a new family he is pursuing. . According to the official synopsis, "We Have a Ghost" centers on teenager Kevin (Jahi Winston) who becomes an overnight social media sensation when his father (Anthony Mackie) comes into contact with the ghost. Ernest. But when Kevin and Ernest go rogue to investigate the mystery of Ernest's past, they find themselves targeted by the CIA, led by Tig Notaro.

“We Have a Ghost” is based on the short story “Ernest” by Geoff Manaugh, who also serves as executive producer. Marty Bowen produces for Temple Hill and Dan Halsted produces for Halsted Pictures. Executive producers include writer-director Landon, Korey Budd, author Manaugh, Isaac Klausner, John Fischer and Nathan Miller. Landon told Entertainment Weekly that Harbor was the "first choice" to play Ernest.
“I knew the role was incredibly challenging because there's no dialogue, so you have to do a lot with very little,” Landon said. “We had a meeting and he told me that he was terrified to do it, which I thought was great because it shows that he was vulnerable and intrigued and excited. At the end of our meeting, I think we both felt very strongly that it was a good game."
Harbor's 2023 is packed with more productions, as "Stranger Things" ends after five seasons and the next phase of Marvel begins with "Thunderbolts" on the horizon. Harbor will reprise his role as Jim Hopper in the Netflix series, and his role as Red Guardian's “Black Widow” for “Thunderbolts” alongside Wyatt Russell, Sebastian Stan and Florence Pugh, as well as Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
“I like these guys who are a bunch of losers or a bunch of guys who can't get it right,” Harbor told Collider of the superhero gang. "And so far, what they've proposed to me feels really great."
