Mending the Line, which will premiere as the opening night film at the Woodstock Film Festival on September 29 before screening at the San Diego International Film Festival in October. The new project is an introspective story that follows US Marine John Colter (played by Sinqua Walls, who will star in White Men Can't Jump) after he is injured in Afghanistan and sent to a VA facility in Montana to recuperate. . While there, he meets up with Ike (played by Succession's Brian Cox) and learns a thing or two about healing from trauma.
In addition to Walls and Cox, the Mending the Line cast also includes several talented actors in supporting roles: Perry Mattfeld, Patricia Heaton, and Wes Studi. The film was directed by Joshua Caldwell (Infamous) from a script by early feature film writer Stephen Camelio (who previously worked as a freelance writer and editor for In Style). Cox and Walls also served as executive producers, proving that the story is a passion project for those involved.

Repairing the line, Ike is shown explaining the fly fishing process to John. The latter is hesitant, but does his best to follow instructions, keep the rod low, and float faithfully. However, once he catches a trout and feels that he has accomplished the task, comes the hard part.
Director Joshua Caldwell shared his enthusiasm for introducing the public to Mending the Line. He revealed the importance of Woodstock and San Diego as locations for the film's screening, noting that “Woodstock is an incredible festival located right in the birthplace of American fly fishing, and San Diego is home to veteran communities. and larger active duty military. in the world."
In addition, he emphasized that John Colter's story expands on the very real stories of veterans across the country, many of whom are overcoming trauma and finding resilience and joy in their lives after leaving service. "We believe that Mending the Line can connect with a wide range of people," he explained.
