All's Fair 2025 Tv Series Review Trailer

This review contains plot details from the first three episodes of “All’s Fair,” which are now available on Hulu. Creators: Jon Robin Baitz, Joe Baken, Ryan Murphy Stars: Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash The fact that a legal drama supposedly about female empowerment begins with a pilot episode written and directed by men probably tells you everything you need to know about “All’s Fair.” In fact, of the three episodes currently available on Hulu to commemorate the series premiere, only one features a significant creative credit from a woman, and it’s shared between executive producer Jamie Pachino and co-creator Ryan Murphy, who collaborated on the script for Episode 2.  But this is a review, so I’m obligated to elaborate: “All’s Fair” is a clumsy, condescending take on superficial, triumphalist feminism, undercooked even by the standards of the overworked Murphy, who co-created the series with Joe Baken and Jon Robin Baitz. Admittedly, the tone is intentionally campy, and i...

Scoop 2023 Tv Series Review Trailer Cast Crew

Based on Jigna Vora's memoir Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison, Scoop began streaming on Netflix starting June 2. The series, directed by Hansal Mehta, stars Karishma Tanna, Harman Baweja, Mohammed Zeeshan and Harman Baweja in pivotal roles.

By Bhavna Agarwal: Scoop is a term used a lot in the media, just like Scam. Interestingly, both shows were created by Hansal Mehta. Like Scam, Scoop is based on a true event that occurred 12 years ago in Mumbai: the Jigna Vora case. Mehta has more than mastered the art of showing fictional versions of true events, without compromising the integrity of the story. With Scoop, has he got it right? Let's dig in.

Creator: Hansal Mehta
Stars: Karishma Tanna, Harman Baweja, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub

Scoop introduces Karishma Tanna as an ambitious crime reporter, Jagruti. She's no stranger to the hustle and bustle and is constantly on the lookout for the BIG news, even when she's on a family vacation. Until that ride of hers for a big scoop lands her in the soup. What happens when another expert crime reporter (played by Prosenjit Chatterjee) is gunned down in broad daylight and the whole case is manipulated to look like an act of jealousy? Scoop traces the intricate details of the 2011 case that left the entire nation in shock.

Based on Vora's memoir Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison, the six-episode story takes us through the state of crime reporting and the safety of crime reporters in the country. Against the background of the case, Mehta also explores the tension in the newsroom and pleads for clinical treatment from the establishment behind such crimes. She very cleverly highlights the defaults that simmer within the system, which seeks to clear itself first.

It's also interesting to see how one's moral compass is tested during difficult times. Supporting Jagruti in quoting her for the good stories is Mohammed Zeeshan as the editor-in-chief, who is a virtuous person. He is not the one who follows the noise. Also playing an integral role is Harman Baweja as Shroff, who is shown to be the person caught in the middle of this underworld cover. Between the underworld and the pursuit of crime reporters for a scoop, the system is using Shroff to set things up.

What is absolutely amazing about Scoop is that she doesn't preach. She refrains from giving a statement, but focuses more on the events that transpired in 2011. Mehta recreates 2011 Mumbai in a combustible setting, and the engaging pacing of the series made it easy to watch.

The script is definitely a key factor in keeping the audience hooked as well. Karishma Tanna is exceptional as Jagruti. The actress can finally show off her acting prowess and she didn't miss the bus. She took it, nailed it, and bites into character like a pro. Harman returns to show business after a long time and delivers a remarkable performance. Zeeshan perfectly justifies his part again.

The true heroes of the series are the writers and editors, who made sure to keep it sharp. There was hardly a dull moment at Scoop. The only disappointment perhaps is the background score, especially after the success of Scam's BG score.
