Saipan 2026 Movie Review Trailer

Saipan 2026. A film loosely based on the conflict between the Republic of Ireland coach, Mike McCarthy (Steve Coogan), and his star player, Roy Keane (Eanna Hardwicke), and Keane's subsequent departure from the Irish squad for the World Cup. To begin with, Hardwicke doesn't resemble Keane at all—she's much taller—but she does capture his arrogance. Coogan isn't an exact copy either, but she does capture his seemingly chaotic approach to player management. Directors: Lisa Barros D'Sa, Glenn Leyburn Writer:: Paul Fraser Stars: Éanna Hardwicke, Steve Coogan, Peter McDonald What I felt while watching the film was the disastrous state of Irish planning. That was the problem: Keane, of Manchester United fame, expected more. I watched The Damned United last week, which deals with the rivalry between Brian Clough and Don Revie. It's tense, funny, and genuinely interesting, but this isn't. It's okay, and it plays on Irish stereotypes. The best part for me was hea...

Old Dads 2023 Movie Review Trailer

The trailer for “Old Dads” premiered Thursday, and it's precisely what America needs in the current climate.

Starring Bill Burr as the unapologetic character he probably is in real life, the story revolves around three best friends (Bobby Cannavale, Bokeem Woodbine) who embrace fatherhood later in life, as described in the synopsis of the trailer. Due to their belated decision to become parents, the three men now find themselves navigating the challenging landscape of the modern world, overrun by overly sensitive individuals, a younger generation and all the eccentricities we have witnessed over the past two decades.

Director: Bill Burr
Writers: Bill Burr, Ben Tishler
Stars: Rachael Harris, Katie Aselton, C. Thomas Howell

The trio must also deal with helicopter parents, and it doesn't bode well for those of us who plan to follow in Burr's character's footsteps.

The film opens with a brilliant scene showing Burr dealing with a helicopter dad who subtly dispenses parenting advice. When Burr dismisses the interfering father, he jokes, "So why don't you take this story to Twitter and play the hero?"

The habit of posting elaborate life stories on Twitter is something I don't like. It's disheartening to see people engaging in this type of behavior, seemingly lacking anyone in their real life who values their opinions. One wonders how lonely or attention-starved someone must be to resort to such actions.

A movie like “Old Dads” is precisely what we need to poke fun at this absurdity, as it looks like these individuals won't stop anytime soon. Let's hope the film doesn't end on too politically correct a note. Rather, I hope it concludes the way society should: with everyone living self-sustainably in their own homes. Each family produces at home what they need and exchanges with neighbors for everything else, freeing us from dependence on mobile phones, and everyone finds true satisfaction.

Since Burr is also directing the film, I'm a little worried about how it might end. You can never predict whether Burr will provide humor or take a politically correct stance these days.
