Saipan 2026 Movie Review Trailer

Saipan 2026. A film loosely based on the conflict between the Republic of Ireland coach, Mike McCarthy (Steve Coogan), and his star player, Roy Keane (Eanna Hardwicke), and Keane's subsequent departure from the Irish squad for the World Cup. To begin with, Hardwicke doesn't resemble Keane at all—she's much taller—but she does capture his arrogance. Coogan isn't an exact copy either, but she does capture his seemingly chaotic approach to player management. Directors: Lisa Barros D'Sa, Glenn Leyburn Writer:: Paul Fraser Stars: Éanna Hardwicke, Steve Coogan, Peter McDonald What I felt while watching the film was the disastrous state of Irish planning. That was the problem: Keane, of Manchester United fame, expected more. I watched The Damned United last week, which deals with the rivalry between Brian Clough and Don Revie. It's tense, funny, and genuinely interesting, but this isn't. It's okay, and it plays on Irish stereotypes. The best part for me was hea...

Baby Reindeer 2024 Tv Series Review Trailer

The Edinburgh Festival is a captivating but unpredictable melting pot of theatrical experiences. It's a place where you can go from being deeply moved by one performance to laughing uncontrollably at the next. Amid the diverse range of shows, some are undeniably brilliant, while others fall short of expectations.

However, when a production lands a transfer to the prestigious West End, followed by a Netflix adaptation, it becomes clear that it occupies a special place in the realm of entertainment. “Baby Reindeer” by Richard Gadd is one of those extraordinary creations.

Stars: Richard Gadd, Jessica Gunning, Danny Kirrane

At its core, “Baby Reindeer” tells the disturbing story of Donny (played by Gadd), a bartender and aspiring comedian whose life takes a dark turn when he encounters Martha (played by Jessica Gunning), a seemingly harmless stranger who quickly becomes becomes his relentless stalker. What begins as a simple act of kindness (offering Martha a cup of tea) soon turns into a nightmare of relentless harassment and psychological torment.

Despite its origins in comedy and its initial presentation as “offbeat” on Netflix, “Baby Reindeer” transcends mere humor and delves into the depths of abuse and trauma. Gadd, who adapted the show for the screen and plays the title character, is based on his own harrowing experiences with a stalker who bombarded him with a staggering 41,000 emails over three years. This deeply personal narrative serves as visceral testimony to the psychological anguish Gadd endured.

As the story unfolds, Donny is forced to confront not only the trauma inflicted by Martha but also deeper questions about his own identity and his sense of self-worth. The complex dynamic between Donny and Martha blurs the lines between victim and perpetrator, leaving both Donny and the audience to grapple with moral ambiguity.

Throughout the series, Gunning's portrayal of Martha adds a compelling layer of complexity, portraying her as cruel and vulnerable, creating a character that is as enigmatic as she is menacing. The narrative is rich in thematic depth and explores issues of sexuality, shame and codependency, all within the context of Donny's tumultuous relationships and personal struggles.
