The Midnight Club 2022 Tv Series Review Trailer Cast Crew

Horrific histories come to life as part of "The Midnight Club," the latest series from the creator of "The Haunting of Hill House" and "Midnight Mass," Mike Flanagan. Along with Leah Fong, Flanagan created the upcoming Netflix series, set to premiere on October 7, based on the works of novelist Christopher Pike. The 10-episode series is produced by Flanagan and Trevor Macy's Intrepid Pictures, along with co-creator Fong, Julia Bicknell and author Pike.

The official synopsis reads: "In a hospice with a mysterious history, the eight members of the Midnight Club gather every night at midnight to tell sinister stories and search for signs of the supernatural beyond." The Midnight Club will be Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy's fourth series on the streaming service under their overall deal with Intrepid Pictures and their first series for a young adult audience. Here's the plot, cast, and everything else you need to know about the show.

Creators: Mike Flanagan, Leah Fong
Stars: Samantha Sloyan, Zach Gilford, Igby Rigney

The Midnight Club is a story adapted from the young adult horror novel of the same name by Christopher Pike and tells the story of seven terminally ill teenagers who reside in Rotterdam Home. Every night, the group secretly meets at midnight to tell horror stories. One night, the young adults make a pact that when one of them dies, they will try to contact the others from the afterlife to confirm the existence of spirits. So fans can expect their fair share of horror, fear, spirits, and supernatural adventures.

The cast includes Iman Benson, Igby Rigney, Ruth Codd, Annarah Cymone, Chris Sumpter, Adia, Aya Furukawa, Sauriyan Sapkota, Matt Biedel, and Samantha Sloyan, with Zach Gilford and Heather Langenkamp. “The Midnight Club” is set in 1994 and marks Flanagan and Macy's first YA series for Netflix under their overall deal with Intrepid Pictures.

Novelist Pike's selected stories include "Witch," "Gimme a Kiss," "Road to Nowhere," and "The Wicked Heart," with all on-screen narration taking place in the mysterious Brightcliffe Manor. The terminally ill teens at the heart of the plot vow to supernaturally return to their friends after meeting their fatal ends. Creator Flanagan told Vanity Fair that he has spent decades trying to adapt the story to the screen.

"These were teenagers coming to terms with terminal illness and death," Flanagan described Pike's works. “And he didn't pull any punches there either. It was a real lesson in how you can use gender to talk about very serious things. This really blew my hair."

He added: “The driving force of the first season for us is that these kids really want some kind of assurance that their lives aren't really over. They believe that the bonds they formed are strong enough that one of them can go back and say to the others: 'Don't be afraid. There's something else on the other side.'”

“The Midnight Club” isn't the only narrative series debuting this fall on Netflix. Guillermo del Toro's anthology show "The Cabinet of Curiosities" calls on Panos Cosmatos, Catherine Hardwicke and Jennifer Kent to direct spooky stories just in time for Halloween. “The Midnight Club” premieres October 7 on Netflix.
