Spirited 2022 Movie Review Trailer Cast Crew Online

Despite its publication in the 19th century, Charles Dickens's classic "Christmas Carol" permeates as a popular holiday tale adapted dozens of times for the movies. So what makes the next iteration of this story unique from the rest?

Spirited is based on the 1843 novel A Christmas Carol, written by Charles Dickens and illustrated by John Leech. The novel tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly old man who is transformed into a kinder man after he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas past, present and future. Spirited will join the long line of films adapted from the Dickens novel that includes Scrooged (1988), Ms. Scrooge (1997), Disney's A Christmas Carol (2009) and more.

Spirited was first announced in September 2019. The film is being produced by Sean Anders and John Morris, under their production company, Two Grown Men. Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum of Gloria Sanchez Productions are also producing the film along with Ryan Reynolds and George Dewey of Maximum Effort and David Koplan (Uncut Gems). Principal photography for Spirited began on July 6, 2021, and filming wrapped on October 18, 2021.

The answer is comedians Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds, who co-star in the musical "Spirited," the latest adaptation of the canonical literary work. Reynolds will play Clint Briggs, a younger, funnier version of cantankerous old Ebenezer Scrooge, while Ferrell will play the ghost of Christmas Present. However, Clint turns the tables and re-examines the ghost's past, present and future. For the first time, "A Christmas Carol" is told from the perspective of the ghosts in this hilarious musical twist on the classic Dickens tale.


Produced by Maximum Effort and Gloria Sanchez Productions, the upcoming Apple TV+ original feature is a party-oriented musical comedy co-written by Sean Anders and John Morris. Ferrell and Reynolds are already quite comfortable with a microphone, as their fans on TikTok know from a viral video from 2021 where the comedians did their own take on the trending song Grace Kelly.


Other cast members in the musical ensemble include Octavia Spencer, Patrick Page, Sunita Mani, Loren Woods, Joe Tippett, Marlow Barkley and Jen Tullock. Although the soundtrack was composed by various artists, the film will also feature new songs from the likes of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.


“Spirited” will be released in theaters on November 11 and globally on Apple TV+ on November 18.

The show, which will launch on August 31, is an adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's beloved manga series of the same name. The story follows a boy named Monkey D.
