Criminal Minds is a crime drama television series that follows the lives of a team of elite FBI profilers who work at the BAU. Your job is to use your profiling expertise to investigate and solve crimes committed by different perpetrators. The show also focuses on their personal struggles and the close friendship that has developed over the years.
Criminal Minds has always been a much-loved crime show and fans were disappointed when the series ended in February 2020. Due to high demand, Paramount+ picked up the series from CBS and announced a revival of the series.
The most significant update about the reboot is that it has a new and revealing title to go with it: Criminal Minds: Evolution. We hope that the series has evolved dramatically in plot and character development. The new, deeper format will certainly give the show free rein to explore its evolution and the meaning behind these different creative decisions.
Stars: Sara Anne, Allison Nordahl Nunez, Aisha Tyler
So what will Criminal Minds be about now that it's getting a reboot? Notably, the show's 10-episode run will be formatted differently from the more anthological original series. Instead of each episode exploring a relatively separate case and plot, a set number of cases will be spread out across all ten episodes, not reaching a conclusion until the end of the tenth episode. This change is much more in line with most streaming series these days, so we're not too surprised by this update.
As the show is a revival of the original Criminal Minds, it will follow the same episodic structure and continue with the stories of each character. The plot of the new show might be a bit different as
It's unclear if there will be a time jump and how we'll meet the different characters on the show. In the original ending, we saw Garcia leaving the BAU team and Reid had a new love interest. It will be fun to see what the characters have been up to since we last saw them.
According to Paramount+, most of the cast will reprise their role, except for Matthew Gray Gubler, who played the role of Special Agent Spencer Reid, and Daniel Henney, who played the role of Matt Simmons. They were unable to return to the series due to scheduling conflicts, but the showrunner insists there is room for their return if the opportunity presents itself.
However, it is unlikely that Matthew will return fully, as he wishes to pursue other opportunities. It will still be good to see him reprise his role, even as a guest star.
The series will have 10 episodes and the first two episodes will premiere on Thursday, November 24, with the rest of the episodes airing weekly on Thursdays. The midseason finale is expected to air on December 15. The show will then take a Christmas break, returning on January 12.
