The CW's upcoming DC TV drama Gotham Knights has officially started production on Season 1. While The CW has canceled several shows this year, the network isn't giving up on the comic book genre for the 2022 TV season. -2023. Since 2012, The CW has launched a new DC TV show every season, with each one becoming a part of the Arrowverse franchise. For the network's next superhero entry, The CW is bringing Gotham Knights to the slate in 2023 with help from the writers and producers of Batwoman. Despite having worked on Batwoman, Gotham Knights is not intended to be a spin-off of any of the Arrowverse shows, and is completely unconnected to the upcoming video game of the same name.
Gotham Knights follows Bruce Wayne's adopted son, Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan), as well as various children of Batman's enemies. When Batman suddenly dies and the world learns of Bruce's big secret, the kids are framed for his murder. Now forced to clear their names, Gotham Knights Season 1 will follow their journey as they become the city's next generation of heroes. Outside of Turner, the DC drama will also star Misha Collins as Harvey Dent, Navia Robinson as Carrie Kelley, Tyler DiChiara as Cullen Bow, Fallon Smythe as Harper Row, Olivia Rose Keegan as Duela, Anna Lore as Stephanie Brown and Rahart Adams. like Brody.

The CW picked up Gotham Knights for the series in May after the network was impressed with the pilot. The show is now officially starting production on season 1, as co-executive producer Natalie Abrams shared on Twitter and also revealed a significant change for the series. While the Gotham Knights pilot was filmed in Toronto, Canada, Abrams confirmed in a previous tweet that the show had moved production to Atlanta. Gotham Knights star DiChiara also celebrated production day 1 via his Instagram story, as did co-executive producer Jeffrey Hunt.
While most of the DC television shows on The CW are filmed in Vancouver, Canada, Gotham Knights was the first to base production in Toronto. However, it's not unusual for new shows to move on after filming their pilot, which could be for financial or creative reasons. Before being canceled by The CW, Atlanta was home to Black Lightning and the short-lived series Naomi. From the beginning, Stargirl has also been produced in Atlanta. While Gotham Knights season 1 will be filming over the next few months, it's unclear how many episodes the new DC TV show will have, though the regular 13-episode order is likely to be the case.
As Gotham Knights season 1 moves into filming, more details about the series will likely emerge soon. Since its continuity doesn't match Earth-Prime from the Arrowverse, it seems safe to say that the show takes place in a different reality within the multiverse. Time will tell if Gotham Knights will do any crossovers with the remaining shows, as Stargirl's fate after season 3 has yet to be decided, while Superman & Lois season 3 won't premiere until 2023. The same goes for The Flash season 9, which will officially end the series. Hopefully, it won't be long until The CW reveals more details about Gotham Knights season 1.
