Netflix announced the release date for the upcoming first part of the new two-part movie in The Seven Deadly Sins franchise titled The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh with a new trailer revealed over the past weekend. The trailer reveals the film's December 20 release date while previewing the film's theme song titled "Lemonade" by Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto.


The upcoming film is the first of a two-part project and features an all-new original story from the original manga's author, Nakaba Suzuki. The new film is set 14 years after the defeat of the Demon Clan, and does not focus on Meliodas, but on his son, Tristan.

The multiple parts of The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh will be directed by Bob Shirohata, with Ayumu Murase leading the cast as Tristan. "14 years since the Kingdom of Liones defeated the Demon Clan and brought peace to the land, Prince Tristan is tormented by his inability to control two great powers: the Demon Clan's power from his father, Meliodas, who served as captain of the Seven Deadly Sins as the Dragon, the sin of the Clan's wrath and power of his mother's Goddess, Elizabeth When Elizabeth's life is threatened, Tristan flees the kingdom and heads for Edinburgh, where Deathpierce, who was once a member of a group of the kingdom's Holy Knights, the Blue Sky Pleiades, maintains his castle. The story of The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh takes place 14 years after the triumph of Liones over the Demon Clan, and follows Prince Tristan, a young man who struggles to control the great power he has inherited from both sides: healing powers. of the Goddesses inherited from her mother, Isabel; and the destructive potential of the Demon Clan inherited from his father, Meliodas. When his mother's life is threatened, Tristan flees to Edinburgh, the residence of an individual known as Deathpierce, a former member of a group of Holy Knights: the Blue Sky Pleiades.


The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh will be a collaborative production between Alfred Imageworks and Marvy Jack, directed by Bob Shirohata, the Ranma 1/2 episode director and supervised by BLEACH original anime series director Noriyuki Abe.

The script is by Rintarou Ikeda, while the musical composition will be in charge of Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto, best known for their work on the soundtrack of the hit anime series Attack on Titan.


Cast members announced to be a part of the upcoming Grudge of Edinburgh film include the cast of the original series reprising their roles. Yuki Kaji returns, reprising his role as Meliodas from the original series; with Amamiya Sora doing the same to Elizabeth; Jun Fukuyama with King; Aoi Yuki returns as Diane; Tatsuhisa Suzuki is the undead Ban once again, and Yuuhei Takagi returns as Gowther. The original cast is joined by several newcomers to the franchise, such as Koki Uchiyama playing the role of a nameless fairy; Yohei Azakami as Deathpierce; Makoto Koichi as Minika.
