Freeridge, the spin-off of Netflix's On My Block, will premiere on February 2. Freeridge is an 8-episode coming-of-age comedy that follows rival sisters Gloria (Keyla Monterroso Mejia) and Inés (Bryana Salaz) and their friends Demi (Ciara Riley Wilson) and Cameron (Tenzing Norgay Trainor) who have unleashed a curse that brings dark misfortune in their lives. Michael Solomon and Zaire Adams also star.
Lauren Inungerich serves as showrunner and co-created the series with executive producers Jamie Uyeshiro, Eddie Gonzalez, Jeremy Haft and Jamie Dooner. The series stars Keyla Monterroso Mejia (Gloria), Bryana Salaz (Inés), Tenzing Norgay Trainor (Cam), Ciara Riley Wilson (Demi) and Peggy Blow in a new series regular role. Also appearing are Michael Solomon, Zaire Adams, J.R. Villarreal and Jean Paul San Pedro with Paula Garcés, Eric Gutierrez, Eme Ikwuakor and Raushanah Simmons reprising their roles from On My Block.

“Both shows rely heavily on mystery to drive the story forward. And both shows have mythologies throughout the series," Iungerich said of the new series, via Netflix's Tudum.
Introducing the new core group, Iungerich added: "Fans should know that Freeridge's new core four are not stepping in the shoes of our original team. They are stepping in their own shoes, along with the legacy of the kids who came before them. Through the lens of this new group of friends, we'll see Freeridge as we know it and also explore a Freeridge we haven't seen before. Where On My Block was led by boys, Freeridge is being led by girls."
But new fans won't need to go back and watch all four seasons of On My Block to enjoy Freeridge. The spinoff is far enough apart to enjoy on its own. Fans of the previous show may appreciate the references and Easter eggs, but Freeridge offers its own standalone story that its creators hope will bring renewed attention to On My Block.
"New viewers can enjoy the show as-is," the showrunner explained. "But we've put in a lot of On My Block insider nuggets for die-hard fans. We really hope our On My Block audience connects with this new team, and we also hope new fans of the franchise want to see where the world began. with On My Block We hope that, with success, Freeridge can breathe new life into our beloved first-born show set in Freeridge.
Fans of the original series will see the return of Paula Garcés as Geny Martinez, Eric Gutierrez as Ruben Martinez, Eme Ik0wuakor as Dwayne Turner, and Raushanah Simmons as Fran Turner. Peggy Blow, who played Marisol Martinez aka Abuelita on On My Block, is also in the cast.
The series is co-created, produced and directed by Lauren Iungerich along with co-creators and executive producers Jamie Uyeshiro, Eddie Gonzalez, Jeremy Haft and Jamie Dooner.
Freeridge reunites Iungerich with his fellow On My Block co-creators González and Haft. The series, which premiered in 2018, followed the adventures of inner-city teens living and loving in the fictional Los Angeles neighborhood of Freeridge over the course of four seasons.
"Freeridge's new quad core doesn't step into the shoes of our original team. They put on their own shoes, along with the legacy of the children who came before them. Through the lens of this new group of friends, we will see Freeridge as we know it and also explore a Freeridge we haven't seen before,” said Iungerich.
