The Dustbin of History is the first episode of a five-part documentary series directed by Maggie Jones and Brad Jones, focusing on the metabolic theory of cancer. The theory is told through the life and work of Nobel Prize-winning scientist Otto Warburg.
The idea for this documentary comes from director Maggie Jones' research into metabolic theory after being diagnosed with fourth stage lung cancer, one of the most aggressive and difficult cancers to diagnose. In fact, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., and more people die from lung cancer than from colon, breast, and prostate cancer combined.
Stars: Jason Fung, Thomas N. Seyfried, Robert Weinberg
The theory is not well known, doctors and hospitals are skeptical about sharing information about it, and since, unlike conventional treatment, its theory is not based on real pharmaceuticals, the lack of financial support behind it of it makes it a difficult theory to test and prove. .
The first episode of this documentary is very informative, the direction is clear and the editing is fast and rigorous. The information is abundant but never redundant.
Documentaries like these are supposed to challenge the system, provide an alternative perspective to what the media and large corporations give us. AND CANCER/EVOLUTION accomplishes that goal brilliantly and effectively.
Anyone interested in medical documentaries, as well as those actively seeking a complementary avenue to traditional medicine, will find this series very witty and hopeful.
Maggie and Brad Jones saw a lack of information about this oncological disease and decided they needed to fill that gap. The series manages to educate the audience about a possibly effective cure, far from the solutions offered by big pharma.
