Kill Me If You Dare 2024 Movie Review Trailer

Polish movies on Netflix are a mix of content. There are movies from the last year and one before that that are almost creepy and raunchy, like in 365 Days and 365 Days: This Day. The Delivery Before Christmas, on the other hand, is a slice of life story set during the Christmas season. Kill Me If You Dare is a strange film that tells the story of a couple who won the lottery and wonder how to spend it. Directed by Filip Zylber, the Polish romantic suspense film premiered on February 13, 2024 on Netflix.

Kill Me If You Dare lasts just over an hour and thirty minutes and begins with Piotr and Natalia getting engaged in the most romantic way. A few years later, they are both having financial difficulties as a married couple and have begun to detest each other.

Director: Filip Zylber
Stars: Weronika Ksiazkiewicz, Mateusz Banasiuk, Agnieszka Wiedlocha

Piotr is constantly worried because Natalia can no longer understand him. Meanwhile, Natalia is tired of Piotr constantly worrying about her financial situation and is upset that since the wedding they haven't had a typical marriage.

On her anniversary, Natalia is furious at her choice of gifts. Amid all the growing hostility between the two, the couple buys a lottery ticket and wins the prize money. Natalia always wanted to open a cafe and a studio for painters with her friend Agatha, while Piotr wanted to invest the money in real estate and buy a house. They both have ideas that have begun to clash and neither of them is willing to walk away from their plans because they both feel they are entitled to the money. Agatha plants a seed of doubt in Natalia's mind about Piotr trying to kill her to take control of her money. Piotr overhears his wife's conversation about her murder. This sets the plot in motion with the quest to discover who would die first. Will the couple finally talk about their crumbling marriage or look for money to survive?

The beginning of the film is strange and it gets even stranger in the middle and at the end, only for the audience to end up dumbfounded. There's nothing added that will shock you, but viewers will surely be upset with the way the film plays out. The story and script make no sense because, in the real world, one imagines that a couple as bitter as Piotr and Natalia would talk to each other instead of turning to their best friends for advice and suggestions about their crumbling marriage. .

The story is also hypocritical at times. The contradiction in Natalia's character is infuriating. As a wife, she could contribute financially and work to get the vacation she wanted instead of expecting her husband to do the heavy lifting to save her marriage. Natalia works at an advertising agency and scolds her boss for not giving her an account to work on because of her gender. This hypocrisy is blatant and the creators probably forgot about it while writing it.

The comedy route taken by the creators doesn't land, and all the attempts they make on the lives of others, intentional or not, are almost problematic. The film doesn't necessarily want to send a message, but the story and script are such that the engagement factor disappears quite soon. No attempt is made to make the film interesting. The climax is strange and there is a disconnect between how the movie started and how it ended. The director and writer ended the film clumsily, and it ends up making us wonder why the filmmakers took the odd route instead of giving the film a conclusive ending.

The script is messy and messy as the filmmakers and writers couldn't make this movie believable. The main characters are mean to each other and haven't been given proper arcs. The only emotions that drive them are anger and resentment. There is nothing that defines them as individuals as they seek the prize money for themselves. It just obstructs the viewing experience. The writers could have explored their marriage instead of wasting the script with the couple trying to kill each other. The script is immature and paints a bad image of the genre.

There is a subplot involving Piotr and Natalia's friends becoming romantically involved. It's another absurd addition to this movie. It served no purpose and is given no depth. The director tried to intersperse two different scenarios: a couple about to separate and two people who come together unexpectedly. The idea is not developed convincingly.

The idea of releasing this movie a day before Valentine's Day would be to project the fact that not all marriages are made in heaven. Sometimes people who fall in love also want it
