All's Fair 2025 Tv Series Review Trailer
The first episode of Daredevil: Born Again begins with Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson, and Karen Page leaving their office (this was teased at the end of Daredevil season 3) and heading to Josie's bar for a drink and to say goodbye to Cherry, a retiring NYPD cop. While Cherry laments that the police are becoming obsolete due to the rise of vigilantes like Daredevil and White Tiger, Foggy has a relaxed chat with an assistant district attorney, Kirsten McDuffie, about why he's working in a shop with his friends instead of at an actual company.
The conversation between Foggy and McDuffie revolves around a thief named Benny who has apparently been accused of stealing some bottles of Lafite Rothschild from Red Hook, a bonded warehouse - i.e. a storage facility where imported goods can be kept without paying taxes.
Foggy believes that Benny will be acquitted, but McDuffie disagrees with him. The seemingly light-hearted scene turns tense when Benny calls Foggy to tell him that someone wants to kill him. When Foggy informs Matt that Benny is in his apartment, Matt rushes to save him, but it all turns out to be a ruse to draw Matt away from Foggy so that Bullseye can assassinate him.
Foggy is killed in front of Josie's when Matt returns, leading to a brutal fight between Daredevil and Bullseye, which ends with Matt pushing Benjamin Poindexter off the roof of the bar. Although Poindexter survives due to his reinforced spine (also shown in Daredevil season 3), Matt realizes that he has crossed the line he vowed to never cross. So, he throws away his helmet, revealing his identity to Cherry.
The narrative of Daredevil: Born Again jumps forward a year after that traumatic incident as Matt goes to his office. He has quit his job as a vigilante. Matt has joined McDuffie, who was already planning to work for a legitimate company after his stint as an assistant district attorney, and it seems like the two share quite the friendly relationship. Matt then heads to Poindexter's hearing, where, after hearing Matt's statement about the events of that fateful night, the judge sentences the murderous supervillain to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Matt and Karen (she enters the hearing session at the last minute) breathe a huge sigh of relief after learning that justice has prevailed and Poindexter will pay for his crimes. But when Matt and Karen sit down to talk later, it becomes clear that they haven't been in touch since Foggy's death. Matt ignored Karen as he dealt with the loss of his friend. After that, Karen ignored Matt to deal with the loss of her friend and the fact that Matt didn't respond to her of all people. Before leaving him again, Karen hands him one of the helmet horns left at the crime scene, which now symbolizes everything Matt had lost that night.
Wilson Fisk attends a meeting between Vanessa Marianna-Fisk and the gangs, the Five Families, who essentially rule New York City. In Daredevil season 3, Vanessa had expressed her desire to enter Wilson's world of crime, but Wilson probably didn't want her to get her hands dirty, because he thought she was too pure for this line of work. But, due to plot-related reasons, Fisk left to sort out his relationship with his estranged adopted niece, Maya Lopez (ICYMI, everything that happened in Hawkeye and Echo). Thus, Vanessa took the proverbial throne and dealt with the gang leaders all by herself.
Since Wilson's dramatic entrance causes the thugs to leave the place almost immediately, that too without asking Vanessa for permission, it proves that despite his leave, he is still the boss. Vanessa is not happy with Wilson's little power move, and she makes her opinion very clear. Wilson brings up the topic of entering politics and whitewashing his identity from his criminal past. Vanessa argues that, while Wilson was away, she was the one who made the business immune to any kind of attack. Wilson thanks her for doing that and implies that they should keep it that way so he can run for mayor of New York. When Matt learns about this through a press conference by Fisk, he gets the shock of his life.
We see snippets of vox pop interviews by BB Urich, the niece of deceased journalist Ben Urich, who was murdered by Fisk, where New Yorkers express how they feel about the state of crime and justice, Fisk's decision to be mayor, and more. Meanwhile, in Fisk's war room, we meet his representatives, Sheila Rivera, Buck Cashman, and Daniel Blake, who argue amongst themselves about what they should do to ensure Fisk's victory, with Blake flattering Fisk to a level never seen before.
